Another bogus scandal

Note to wife:

One of the many phony “news” stories circulating in “alt-right” (a.k.a. extremist) social media involves Hillary Clinton’s longtime close aide Huma Abedin.

She was born in the U.S. but her father was born in India and her mother is from Pakistan, so naturally she is suspect among ultra-right nationalists. (By the way, both her parents were scholars, each receiving Ph.Ds from the University of Pennsylvania.)

In 2012, five members of Congress, including Arizona’s own Trent Franks, launched an investigation into her alleged ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, which some consider a terrorist organization. Nothing incriminating was found, but as we’ve seen throughout this presidential campaign, paranoid conspiracy theories never die. Even John McCain said he admires Huma and dismisses all the right-wing trash talk.

And, as noted, she’s married to former Congressman Anthony Weiner, who resigned after a “sexting” scandal in 2011. She stood by him at the time, but news reports today indicate he has been caught engaging in the same activity.
