#1 song this week:

Wasted Love” by City and Colour (aka Dallas Green) leaps from #6 to #1 on the Rock n Roll for Grownups chart.

Debuting this week is Phoenix’s very own Kongos, with “Take It From Me” (#45), lead single from their second major label album, Egomaniac.

The music world was rocked a few days ago with the death of yet another pioneer, Prince. Most of the attention is focused on his remarkable catalog from the 1980s and 1990s, and rightly so. But like many older artists, he was still making eminently listenable music in recent years that didn’t get much mainstream notice.

Prince’s music transcended genres and over the years he didn’t always produce songs appropriate for the Rock n Roll for Grownups chart. The last time Prince appeared on the Phoenix 50 was early 2013 with “Rock and Roll Love Affair.” Give it a listen and remember what a great guitarist, songwriter and performer he was. A true innovator.
