For five years, the Republicans have been promising to “repeal and replace” Obamacare, the program that provides health insurance for those who don’t already have it. House Speaker Paul Ryan has crafted a replacement plan, but the Freedom Caucus (conservative House members who used to fly under the “tea party” flag) derisively call his plan “Obamacare light” and have demanded more drastic cuts. After meeting his key Freedom Caucus members, President Trump (who once wrote a book called The Art of the Deal) said he supports their position – anything to get a bill passed.
