President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey yesterday — allegedly for mishandling last year’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s e-mails. (See Election MVP.) If that’s the case, why wasn’t it done earlier? Perhaps the real reasons for Trump’s disenchantment is that Comey wouldn’t back him up on the fake news story about Trump Tower being bugged, and Comey has continued to probe Russian connections to Trump’s campaign. Yet another bizarre episode in the Trump presidency.
