In a normal election year, a candidate with Clinton’s huge disapproval ratings wouldn’t stand a chance of winning. But Americans seem to like both remaining Republican candidates even less. The danger is that people are so disgusted with the choices they may not even vote.
That could result in an election decided only by each candidate’s true believers – a small minority. Instead of trying to broaden their appeal, the candidates may simply play to their bases while alienating most Americans – not a strong position for governing.
