#1 song this week:
The Foo Fighters leap from #7 to the top with “Saint Cecilia,” title track from an EP originally released as a free thank-you to fans.
David Bowie, who died two days after the release of his final album, Blackstar, moves up to #40 with the spooky, jazz-tinged “Lazarus,” a prophetic song that debuted on the Phoenix 50 before his death. While most of the recent attention has been on his 1970s and 1980s output — and rightfully so — Bowie continued to make great rock music long after. Case in point: “The Stars (Are Out Tonight),” his 2013 single from The Next Day. The “stars” in the song are not celestial, but of the celebrity variety.
Adult alternative veteran Bonnie Raitt has this week’s highest debut with “Gypsy In Me.”
