For the ninth ratings period in a row, adult contemporary “K-E-Z” reigned supreme among metro Phoenix’s radio stations, according to Nielsen Audio.
Classic rock KSLX retained the runner-up spot, while talker KFYI edged up to #3.
When KYOT switched from rhythmic adult contemporary to adult hits “The Mountain” in April 2014, its closest sounding competitor was hot AC “Mix.” Now, for the first time since the format flip, “The Mountain” beat out “Mix.”
KNIX dipped in audience share, but managed to stay ahead of rival “Camel Country,” which ticked slightly upward.
Below the top 10, “Alt AZ,” KDKB’s alternative music format launched in January, improved its audience share but still couldn’t crack the top 10, remaining tied at #11.
The best improvement among all 33 Nielsen subscribers came, surprisingly, from “Family Life Radio” (KFLR). The contemporary Christian station jumped from #20 to #13, producing its largest audience share in . . . well, probably forever. Is this a true surging trend or a ratings anomaly?
