Adult contemporary “K-E-Z” continues to be the most popular station in Phoenix even before its annual switch to holiday music, which traditionally steamrolls over all competition.
“K-E-Z” and “The Mountain” (#2) performed better than last time while KSLX (#3) and KOOL (#4) declined a little in audience share. Even so, the big four remain in a category by themselves, with fifth-place KUPD far behind.
KTAR and “K-Jazz” inched up in audience share. “Mix” (KMXP) dropped out of the top 10, replaced by “Kiss FM.”
Below the top tier, the biggest improvements were made by “Camel Country” (KMLE) at #12, and Spanish adult hits “La Suavecita” (KVVA) tied at #13, as well as contemporary Christian “Family Life Radio” (KFLR) and regional Mexican “La Campesina” (KNAI), both tied at #19.
“The Wow Factor” (KOIA), flagship station for legendary programmer John Sebastian’s new oldies format, continued to lose listeners in its first full ratings period, falling to a tie at #28. However, that drop failed to benefit rival “Oldies 92.7” (KAZG), now at #27, which also declined.
