Last December, “K-E-Z” ascended to the throne of metro Phoenix radio stations thanks to its annual all-holiday music stunt. And by August . . . 99.9 still hasn’t let go. For the 10th survey in a row, the adult contemporary powerhouse is the most popular radio station in metro Phoenix, according to Nielsen Audio.
The top 10 was remarkably stable. KSLX (#2), KFYI (#3) and KOOL (#4) maintained their positions. “Mix” showed a solid increase in audience share and moved up to #5.
The biggest change was KTAR, which rose into the top 10 for the first time since May 2014. The news-talk station pushed country KNIX down to #11, which fell below rival “Camel Country” for the first time since March.
Just to prove the ratings are not always so consistent, look at KFLR (“Family Life Radio”). The contemporary Christian station saw an uncharacteristically huge jump in audience share during July (rising from #20 to #12), but lost almost half that percentage in August and fell back into more traditional territory, tying at #24.
