KOOL has made it five months in a row as the most popular station in metro Phoenix, according to the latest Nielsen Audio ratings. The classic hits outlet was down slightly in audience share but stayed well ahead of runner-up KFYI.
“K-E-Z,” which last period tied for #2, dropped to #4 — but expect a big surge next time followings its switch to all-Christmas music November 13. If the past is any indication, the station will bury everyone else for the next two books, abruptly ending KOOL’s reign.
KUPD continued its upward trend, landing at #3. KNIX rebounded and swapped places in the standings with rival “Camel Country.”
Despite the jockeying for position, most of the top stations experienced only slight changes in audience share, with less than one ratings point separating #2 from #8.
KDKB, in its second book as “Alt 93.3,” has started to gain traction, moving up to #14 — already improving audience share from its final weeks in the old rock format.
