Classic rocker KSLX has now been the top-rated station in metro Phoenix in four of the five last ratings periods, according to the latest Nielsen Audio ratings.
Former kingpin “K-E-Z” remained at #2 but now shares the runner-up spot with the suddenly strengthening KOOL. The classic hits station, which earlier this year shifted its focus to music from the 1980s and 1990s, gained more than a full ratings point — very unusual these days. KOOL’s strong showing now puts it in the same league as KSLX and “K-E-Z” in terms of being well ahead of all the other stations.
“Mix” stayed even in audience share while KUPD increased by a healthy margin; both are now tied at #4. “The Mountain” and “Kiss FM” both improved their market share.
“Alt” demonstrated that its first appearance in the top 10 last time was no fluke and edged up to #9.
