“The Man” by The Killers moves up to #1 on this week’s Rock n Roll for Grownups chart.
Beck makes a huge jump with “Dear Life” (#35 to #14). This week he put out another new song, “Up All Night.” Since both were released within a two-week period, we’re listing them together like the double-sided hits of the old days.
It’s the same story with Robert Plant, who issued “The May Queen” (#20) in mid-August, and this week followed with “Bones of Saints.” With pop stars releasing virtually simultaneous singles these days, it appears record companies are now willing to try it with rock acts (though it can cause havoc at rock radio stations conditioned to playing just one new song at a time from any given artist).
Another fast mover is “The Sky Is A Neighborhood” (#40 to #27) by Foo Fighters. And debuting way up at #32 is the eagerly awaited new single by U2, “You’re The Best Thing About Me.”
